Revenue Audits Directorate – July 2025 Update
In July 2025, the Revenue Audits Directorate made significant strides by participating in the Annual AFROSAI-E Extractive Industries Workshop and the INTOSAI Working Group on Audit of Extractive Industries (WGEI) Steering Committee Meeting, held from 15th to 18th July at Radisson Blu Mosi-Oa-Tunya, Livingstone Resort.
Held under the theme “The Role of SAIs in Ensuring Future-Proofing Mining for the Benefit of Citizens,” the workshop brought together Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs), industry experts, and stakeholders to explore how Africa’s mineral wealth can be harnessed sustainably and equitably.
Key discussions focused on maximising returns from critical and conflict minerals, promoting peace, health, and safety in mining, investing in technology and infrastructure, and ensuring inclusive community participation.
The sessions highlighted the vital role of SAIs in strengthening transparency, accountability, and sustainability in extractive industries, while the WGEI Steering Committee refined global capacity-building priorities.
For Zambia, this reinforced the importance of innovation, good governance, and community engagement in ensuring that mining benefits all citizens.
Represented by Director Geoffrey Sitali and a delegation of senior and principal auditors, the Directorate’s participation underscored OAG Zambia’s strong commitment to advancing oversight in extractive industries, raising audit quality standards, and contributing meaningfully to regional and global discussions on sustainable resource governance.
