The Procurement and Supplies Unit is established on Claus 32. (1) of The Public Procurement Act of 2020 that stipulates that a procuring entity shall establish a Procurement Unit which shall report directly to the controlling officer or chief executive officer and is responsible for managing procurement activities of the procuring entity in accordance with this Act.
The Unit is one of the significant Units at the Office of the Auditor General and it holds a strategic role in the implementation of the office strategic plan.
The Unit plays an administrative role to support all Directorates including the Provincial Offices to implement their set objectives.
The Procurement and Supplies Unit is comprised of six (6) officers. It is led by the Head of Procurement and Supplies, supported by a Chief Procurement Officer, two (2) Procurement and Supplies Officers, and two (2) Procurement and Supplies Assistants. The Head of Procurement and Supplies Unit reports to the Deputy Auditor General Corporate Services and Specialised Audits who is also a Controlling Officer for the Institution.
