Finance Directorate
The major function of this Section is to look after the finances of the Office of the Auditor-General so that all the programmes, especially the audit programmes, in all the Directorates, Sections and Units are accomplished. The Finance Section will be headed by the Director of Finance whose responsibilities will include:-
- Maintenance of books of accounts;
- Preparation of the financial reports
- Liaising with the Ministry of Finance for the disbursement of funds;
- Preparations of annual budgets;
Accounts Unit
The Accounts Unit will be responsible for the accounting functions in the Office and will comprise of sub-units to handle the Recurrent Departmental Charges and Capital Expenditures and Below-the-line accounts. The Unit, which will be headed by a Senior Accountant will comprise of two Accountants and fifteen Assistant Accountants. Out of these, ten Assistant Accountants will be based in the ten Provincial Audit Offices.
Salaries Unit
The Salaries Unit will be responsible for the processing and management of the office’s payroll. The responsibilities will include computations of employee’s personal emoluments and allowances, introducing new entrants on the payroll, salary progressions, terminal leave etc. The Unit will be head by a Senior Accountant and will be assisted by one Accountant and one Assistant Accountants.
